Guy Shappy moved to Sonoma County in 1978 and started a long career in the wine business. Beginning as a zinfandel grower in Dry Creek Valley he learned the basic techniques of wine making. By 1981 he was working with a corporate marketing team at a large winery. Then in 1991 he joined with five other "wine people" to form Grove Street Brokers, working with some of the most limited producers of high quality wines.

Today Guy still enjoys pruning vines, working a bottling line, and marketing small release wines.
